Performance of pea germplasm for seed yield and yield components under Peshawar conditions [Pakistan]

An experiment on the screening of various pea genotypes viz Rondo, Novana, Dasan, Kohat Local, Climax, Hungry Red Peas, Meteor and Green feast was conducted to determine it seed yield and yield components in Peshawar conditions. The Maximum germination (83.9%) was recorded in cultivar Novana while the minimum (31.88%) was noted in Hungry Red Peas. The maximum number of dry pods/plant (18) were observed in cultivar Dasan, while the minimum (6.75) was noted in cultivar Hungry Red Peas. Cultivar Dasan and Novana produced the highest seed yield of 1.535 t/ha and 1.388 t/ha respectively, while the lowest seed yield was recorder in cultivar Hungry Red Peas and Meteor e.g. 0.127 t/ha and 0.267 t/ha. The maximum income (Rs. 92100) of dry seed/ha was produced from cultivar Dasan, While the minimum income/ha (Rs.7650) was produced from cultivar Hungry Red Peas. The maximum percent moisture content (81.81%) and the minimum dry matter yield (18.18%) was recorded in cultivar Climax, while the minimum percent moisture content (62.50) and the maximum dry matter yield (37.5) was recorded in cultivar Rondo and Meteor. Cultivar Rondo, Kohat local, Climax and Green Feast had pod length more than 5 cm (52.02%, (52.94%), (5000%) and (57.47%). Cultivar Novana, Dasan and Hungry Red Peas had more pod length in the range of 3-5 cm (41.53%), (42.96%) and (46.29%). Cultivar Meteor had pos size unto 3 cm (56. 730.
