In the years 1999-01, a pot experiment with the soil of a good rye complex was conducted. Four multicomponent fertilizers were used: Polifoska 8, Polifoska 15, Polimag 306 and Travit. The rates of nitrogenous fertilization applied before sowing were: 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 g N per pot with 9 kg of soil. After the first and second cuttings, 0.25 g of N was additionally applied in all the fertilizing treatments compared. The concentration of nitrogen was highest in the first cut of perennial ryegrass, and than it gradually decreased. The concentrations of nitrates were low and similar in all cuts. The concentration of sugars soluble in water depended on the rate of nitrogen applied. Increasing rates of nitrogen lowered the content of sugars in perennial ryegrass
