Soil water retention on long-term permanent plot experiments

The aim of this paper was to measure water retention in soils of long-term permanent plot experiments, representing seven soil complexes of agricultural suitability and to determine the factors influencing water content in arable layer. Effects of organic matter, particle size distribution, and bulk density on the parameters of the water retention curve were estimated. It was found that the content of plant-available water was positively correlated with organic matter content and negatively with soil bulk density
