The paper sets out to determine the shifts in the employment structure within German agriculture. Their understanding can provide a premise to conclude on the direction and scope of the government's measures which would improve the efficiency of work and help use the labour potential freed in light of integration with the EU. The core tendencies are, along with a decrease in the absolute employment level, a decline in women's role in the labour outlay, and the stabilization of the level of employment of the hired labour force
