Effects on physiology and productivity of feeding chicks by applying mixes with varying protein content, phenol compounds and fibre from faba bean (Vicia faba L.) seeds with the addition of fodder enzymes
2003
Mikulski, D.
The subjects of assessment were seeds of colourfully blossoming Tim and Titus varieties and the seeds of faba bean with white flowers obtained from the Polish growing station. The research included the determination of some physical features of the seeds (weight of seeds and the portion of hull in the weight of seeds), chemical composition and the content of antinutritional factors in the whole and shelled seeds of faba bean. It was found in the biological experiments that the seeds of faba bean in which the content of phenol compounds was genetically decreased (white flowers), may be a significant (35 percent) component of full-portion mixes for chicks, with neither any negative physiological effects nor any reduction in the productivity performance
