The performed investigations involved the determination of mineral composition and selected physical properties (MH, specific surface area) of the colloidal fraction of rendzinas. It was found that the mineralogical composition of the clay fraction of the examined soils varied widely, especially in horizons of their parent rock. The specific surface area of the investigated rendzinas showed high values both in surface layers and deeper ones. The content of hydroscopic water and maximal hydroscopicity varied considerably
