Tissue culture of the banana (Musa spp.) from inflorescence and shoot tip

Inflorescence of banana cultivar 'Kluai Hom Thong' and shoot tip of cultivar 'Kluai Nam Wa' were micropropagated on modified Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 22 micro M BA and 15 percent CW. Multiple shoot formation was obtained on this medium. When individual isolated shoots were transferred to the same medium, shoots produced roots. Root formation without the application of auxin is discussed. A complete regenerated plantlet could be successfully transferred to soil without abnormal appearance.
