[On assessing the ecological condition of [Ukraine's] forests]

Studied are negative ecological phenomena involving new information technologies and methods. According to the forest assessment indices of forest reserve's forest blocks, a system of criteria can be built to assess the ecological state of each of the blocks. Proposed are the criteria to assess the sanitary state of foreststands which are divided into three groups: foreststands' age structure, forest management structure and the sanitary state to determine the forests' ecological state. A conclusion is drawn that according to the assessment of the indicators provided, the forest management system cannot be recognized as an ecologically oriented one yet
