2002
Nguyen Duy Chuyen
Mangrove, Melaleuca, Dipterocarpaceae and mixed evergreen forests belongs to forest ecosystem in our country. However, for past years, due to war, forest burns, improper exploitation and use for economical purposes, free migration of people, etc... these forest ecosystems have been decreased in acreage and coverage and degraded in resources. In general, from 1943 to present forest area 30-50 percent, and forest converage by 1995-1996 was only 24 percent, with particular 10 percent in some places. Hence, to overcome these stuations, the author suggested such solutions as proper planning, projection and contract of land use, capital assignment, people's capacity building, establishment of market information network, profile of business and small-scale processing for protection and development of sustainable forest ecosystems.
