Effects of temperature on growth and development of chinese kale (Brassica oleracea L. var. alboglabra L.H. Bailey) cultivars with yellow petals

Effects of growing temperatures (15 deg C, 30 deg C, 25 deg C and 30 deg C) on growth and development of Chinese kale (Brassica oleracea L. var. alboglabra L.H. Bailey) cultivars with yellow petals were investigated. 'Chugoku-kairan (Y)' cultivar formed flower buds when exposing under 115 deg C for six weeks, whereas this response on flower bud development was not seen in 'Kibana-kakurin' even after ten weeks of exposure under the same conditions. The stem length of both cultivars at 25 deg C was longer than that at 20 deg C and 30 deg C. Stem diameter of 'Chugoku-kairan (Y)' and 'Kibana-kakurin' at ten weeks of exposure had a tendency to increase at higher temperature. Unfolded leaf number at ten weeks of exposure had a tendency to increase at higher temperature.
