Chromosome counts of Zingiberaceae

Chromosome numbers of 10 species of Zingiberaceae were determined in root tips. The chromosome numbers of those species studied are as follows: Boesenbergia rotunda, 2n=36, B. curtisii (white petiole), 2n=24, Hedychium coronarium, 2n=34, H. flavescens, 2n=50, Curcuma thorelii, 2n=36, Curcuma sp., 2n=42, Costus speciosus (normal leaf), 2n=18, C. speciosus (mosaic leaf), 2n=36, Kaempferia marginata, 2n=55 and K. rotunda, 2n=33. However, chromosome numbers of K. rotunda from this study is different from the previous studies and B. rotunda, B. curtisii (white petiole) and K. marginata have not been recorded before.
