Two modern types technique - tensiometers and Time Domain Reflectory(TDR) are used in the research for measuring the soil moisture. It is determined that both techniques rapidly react of extreme changes of moisture, including the period during the irrigation. They give a hopefull information for estimating crop evapotranspiration and depletion of moisture from different layers of soil. As distinct from tensiometers, TDR technique caan measure at small depths (10-30 cm) and at low soil moistures (near the wilting point). At vertisol soil type most appropriate depths for measuring of moisture in productions conditions, including automated systems for irrigations are 25 and 50 cm.
