Agrochemical evaluation of soils from tobacco producing regions in Southern Bulgaria

An agrochemical study of soils from main tobacco producing regions in Southern Bulgaria was conducted. The following soil characteristics were defined - mechanical composition, humus content, total nitrogen, mobile phosphorus and pH(H2O). In reference of all studied indexes a considerable part of the soils from the tobacco producing regions completely correspond to the requirements of production of oriental tobacco. The results are a basis for developing specific technologies for breeding oriental tobacco and fertilization systems.
