In the paper are given description, biology, ecology, harmfulness and control of Mamestra brassicae L. In table 1 is given influence of drought on propagation of this higrophyl species. In the period 1962-1980 with only 16% of years with vegetation in drought, the average number of 6.2/square meter was recorded, or only 0.9/square meter in the period 1981-2000 (with 40% of years with drought during vegetation). In the picture 1 is shown dynamic in the number of second generation of Mamestra brassicae L. on sugar beet in the period 1962-2000. The highest number was established in 1965, 1967, 1973-1975, 1978 and 1986.
