Use of natural remedy 'Veter D' in the treatment and prevention of subclinical and clinical mastitis in dairy cattle

Veter D, the remedy based on essentials of calendula (Calendula officinalis), hypericum (Hypericum perfoliatum), yarrow (Achillea millefolium), pine (Pinus album), and bee wax and propolis originally indicated for the topical treatment of affected skin, was applied as the media for the dipping of the teats after milking. The formulation was used in the three dairy herds with high incidence of subclinical and clinical mastitis and characteristic low milk quality. After two months of regular application the significant improvement, reflected in the decrease in bacteria and somatic cell count in milk, and lowering of the frequency of the clinical and subclinical mastitis, was achieved.
