[Review of methods for evaluation of dam safety]

This paper presents modern methodologies for dam safety assessment. Particular attention is given to the risk management method, which is currently considered as the most comprehensive approach. Basic notions and principles of the method are explained, an overview of the worldwide exeprience of its implementation is given, and the need for its adoption and implementation in Serbia and Montenegro is recognised.
