Effects of different nitrogen doses on yields of wheat, corn, sugarbeet and field pea were studied in a five-crop rotation established on slightly calcareous chernozem of southern Backa (Serbia, Serbia and Montenegro). It was concluded on the basis of five-year research results that the optimum nitrogen dose for winter wheat cultivated after field pea is around 90 kg/ha, and about 120 kg/ha for winter wheat cultivated after corn. The respective values were 90 to 120 kg/ha for corn, 120 to 150 kg/ha for sugarbeet, and 30 to 60 kg/ha for field pea, the variations depending on weather conditions in individual years.
