Photocatalytic removal of the herbicide Mecoprop from water with natural and artificial source of light

This paper describes the photocatalytic removal of the herbicide Mecoprop from aqueos solution in the presence of TiO2 photocatalyst (Degussa P-25, predominantly anatase) by using solar and artificial UV light. The efficiency of the photodecomposition was monitored spectrophotometrically by following the degradation of aromatic ring. Kinetics of the degradation were also monitored for direct photolysis (in the absence of TiO2) with solar and UV light.
