Pig farm at the Trnovce water supply source [Serbia (Serbia and Montenegro)]

The source of ground water supply to Smederevska Palanka is Trnovce aquifer in the wide Velika Morava alluvial plain downstream of Velika Plana. The development of the source (in mid-seventies of the last century) was preceded by detailed studies of all relevant data. The decision based on the good research results was to use the source for water supply to the communities of Smederevska Palanka, Mladenovac and Velika Plana. In the early nineties, however, a pig farm was developed in an area of the Trnovce source. The resulting, present and prospective hydrogeological situations in this source of ground water for supply to the three communities is considered in this paper.
