Dorm-Adzobu, C. | Ampadu-Agyei, O. | Veit, P. G.
Results are reported from a study of the local beliefs, regulations and practices that have successfully protected the Malshegu sacred grove, a 1-ha area of partially closed-canopy forest in semi-arid surroundings that has been preserved by the local community for some 300 yr. Core elements of effective resource management are discussed, and the implications for policy and decision makers.
