People employing capacity of agriculture together with that of industry processing its products and making its inputs is very high. Therefore the development of a long-term self-protecting agricultural policy is required that halts a decline of Hungarian agriculture of nearly two decades and creates conditions for fresh development. As an EU member Hungarian agriculture is expected to fulfill a number of objectives: production of healthier food, protection of land and environment and cultivation of national and rustic traditions.
