Stem bark of Friesodielsia enghiana, a large woody climber, was collected from the Bobre forest reserve in Ghana. Investigations of the petrol extract led to the isolation of benzyl benzoate and benzyl 2-hydroxybenzoate, 2 bisabolene sesquiterpenes and 9 flavonoids, 2 of which were new. the new compounds were identified by spectroscopic analysis as 2,5-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-8-methylflavanone and 2,5-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-6-methylflavanone. Three of the co-occurring flavones also had 6- and/or 8--C-methylation.
