Moisture dependence of DC electrical resistivity of some Ghanaian woods.
1977
Okoh, I. K. A.
The direct current electrical resistivities of 14 Ghanaian woods were measured at room temperature of 25°C over the moisture content range of about 6 to 22 per cent. Measurements were made along the grain. Results showed that there was a linear relationship between the logarithm of rsistivity, p (ohm-cm) and the logarithm of moisture content M (percent) of the form. Log p=A-B log M, which was in agreement with previous studies. The mean values of the contants A and B were 20.1 and 10.7 respectively. It was further noted from the results of this study that woods that are characterised with high lignin and extractive contents had high resistivity values.
