The effect of cultivation on the survival and growth of Eucalyptus tereticornis Sm. (E. umbellata (Gaertn.) Domin)
1971
Ankah, E. C. | Amoyaw, M. A.
A study was made of the effects on subsequent survival and growth of E.tereticornis seedlings, planted on a flat site with black cotton soil in Ghana, of planting after full ploughing, row ploughing or scalping 1-ft2 spots vs. planting on untreated grassland. Scalping had no beneficial effect. Both types of ploughing gave better survival and growth; between the two there was little difference in survival %, but full ploughing gave better growth. In practice, row ploughing may be preferable since it is more economical and is consonant with the present local practice of line cleaning.
