Oil palm empty fruit bunches (OPEFB) are potentially suitable as a compost raw material processed by lignocellulosic degrading microbes, i.e. Trichoderma pseudokoningii and Cytophage sp., formulated in commercial product of OrgaDec at 0.5 percent (w/w) rate of application. The application of OPEFB compost for mature palm in the field has several advantages both in the improvement of physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soils and the allevation of environmental pollution. This study was intended to justify techno-economically for a bioactivated composting industry development based on technical, operational management, and financial aspects. The industry was planned at the palm oil mill (POM) of Kertajaya Estate, PT. Perkebunan Nusantara VIII, utilizing OPEFB of 21,000 ton/yr. Composting facilities will be built adjacent to the POM employing 115 employees and requiring 6,154 square meter composting floor. Initial capital is Rp. 6,645,374,250. Financial source comes from bank loan with 50:50 Debt Equity Ratio (DER) with an interest of 30 percent annually. The analysis showed that the project has: (i) net present value (NPV) of Rp. 2,225,705,168.39, (ii) internal rate of return (IRR) of 60 percent, (iii) net benefit/cost (B/C) ratio of 2.17, and (iv) payback period (PBP) of 2.7 years. When own capital were used, the values become: (i) NPV = Rp. 1,977,432,727.05, (ii) IRR = 43 percent, (iii) net B/C ratio = 1.5, and (iv) PBP = 2.77 years
