"As an attempt to estimate wave forces on aquaculture facilities and wave height distributions around them, a numerical analysis for wave forces on structures and scattered waves was examined using a hybrid method. In the present method the fluid domain was divided into inner and outer ones, and the imaginary boundaries were set between these domains. Numerical solutions on imaginary boundaries based on the three-dimensional Green's formula in the inner domain were matched with numerical ones, which satisfied the radiation condition and based on the two-dimensional Green's formula in the outer domain. Consequently, the velocity potential could be determined, considering other boundary conditions in the inner domain. Since the imaginary boundaries were placed near the structures and the fundamental solutions of kernels of integral equations are very simple, the computer programs could be easily developed and the computational efforts are also able to be reduced. The comparison between the results that were obtained from the present method and the exact solutions revealed good agreements. The effect of the number of dividing boundary surfaces was investigated. It was known that for obtaining accurate solutions, its element length should be less than one per seven of water depth."
