Questionnaire surveys of health care of animals kept in elementary schools contribution to veterinarian

Questionnaire surveies about health care of animals kept in elementary schools were performed useing e-mail in 1997 and 1998. The present surveies aimed at being useful for veterinarian contributed health care of animals kept in elementary schools. Rabbits and domestic fowls were the most common kinds. In 56.9% of the respondent schools, they answered that the animals were kept in a poor environment. The especial attention to sanitary conditions for students was paid in 60.4% of the schools, and the sanitary attention for animals was 32.6%. These results suggest that only schools has been interested in the hygiene of animals and zoonosis.
