Shimba Hills, Mkongani & Malunganji forests biodiversity overview

This report covers the Shimba Hills National Reserve (21,740 ha) which was gazetted in 1956, and superimposed on the bulk of Shimba Hills Forest Reserve which was gazetted in 1903. Two small areas were not gazetted as National reserve, and have remained Mkongani west (1366 ha) adnd Mkongani north (1113 ha) forest reserves. About 5km to the Shimba Hills NR is the small Malunganji forest reserve (1715).
