SUMMARY MRI examination revealed cervical syringomyelia associated with severe hydrocephalus in a 3-month-old miniature dachshund with neck pain and circling and scratches on the neck. Because medical therapy with predonisolone and acetozolamide produced no improvement in neurological symptoms, the dog was euthanized. Histopathological examination revealed communicating hydrocephalus and cervical syringomyelia. The present case suggests that syringomyelia is one of important differential diagnoses in spinal diseases.
