The effect of sodium selenite to the fiber, carotines and dry matter content in cucurbitaceous plants (Cucurbita maxima, Cucurbita pepo)

The water soluble selenium salt-sodium selenite was used for pumpkins fertilization. 4 pumpkins and one squash varieties were used for investigation. Their biochemical compounds (dry matter, carotenes, fiber) were tested in two cases: for raw pumpkins and for pickled pumpkins smash. The obtained results show, that using of Na2SeO3 decrease dry matter and carotene amounts, but increase fiber amount.
