Recent years there was a very fast increase of small animals, especially dog's amount in Latvia. To developed veterinarian's practice it is very significant to detect correct diagnosis and to choose the right treatment. It is closely connected with laboratory diagnostics and hematology, too. The correct interpretation of results improves accuracy of diagnosis and helps to control diseases. For this reason we need local canine hematological reference value. Such values have not been found in Latvia. Reference values of other countries are too different and it is very difficult to use them in veterinarian's routine work. Therefore the aim of our work is: to clarify if age, sex and weight of adult dogs influence results of hematology and to obtain reference hematological values in Latvia to be useful for practitioner needs.
