Tanzania natural forests have multiple utilities and these include hydrological, botanical, zoological, recreational, soil conservation and timber values. Traditional inventories concentrated on timber volume estimation and neglected the impact of the other natural forest benefits.Multiresource inventory is an approach to capture information needed for multiple use planning. This paper reviews the diverse resources and proposes a method for carrying out multipurpose inventory by utilizing aerial photo and field data in multi-phase/multi-stage sampling design.
