Analysis of the inheritance of some important traits in apple in diallel hybridization
2004
Bucarciuc, V. | Donica, I. | Sambrai, V.
For the selection of advanced materials with the aim to be used as donors of economically important traits, 2700 apple hybrids obtained from diallel crossing of various varieties have been evaluated. The heritability and combining ability for 28 characters in 30 hybrid combinations were studied. It was revealed the level of heritability, general combining ability (GCA)and specific combining ability (SCA)of parental materials and correlative links between them. Relying on this investigation, the best varieties for GCA and SCA and perspective cross combinations were determined. It was additive gene action which has more influence on the formation of the majority of characters: growth intensity, leaf size, internode compactness, time of bud breaking, blossoming, fruit ripening and end of vegetation period, fruit diameter and index, fruit colouration, pedicel length and fruit rustiness. As a result of pursued investigations, a new breeding material was developed.
