Evaluation of different rose cultivars under the agro-climatic conditions ofHattar, Haripur (NWFP) Pakistan

The present study was conducted at Qarshi Herb Center, Hattar, Haripur(NWFP) Pakistan, during the years 2002 to 2003. Five Exotic rose cultivars viz.Bajjazo, Delicia, Gataray, Cardinal Red and Indian Chief were included in thetrial. Maximum plant height (52.33 cm), number of branches per plant (27),stem thickness (14.46 mm), maximum number of roots per plant (33) and rootlength per plant (17.14 cm) was recorded in Indian Chief. While maximumnumber of flowers (26), and leaves per plant (364) were recorded in CardinalRed. Maximum flower size (11.13 cm) was found in Delicia followed by Bajjazo(8.93 cm). Cultivar Indian Chief had minimum flower size (6.51 cm).It wasconcluded that Indian Chief is better for plant height, Delicia for maximumflower size and Cardinal Red for maximum number of flowers under the agro-climatic conditions of Haripur.
