Nodules of Dalbergia sissoo Roxb. were globose woody and rough intexture present in the axils of lateral roots. Rhizobial infection on root surfaceof D. sissoo started with curling of root hair. Infection threads were seen inthe young infected cells. Persistent infection threads were also observed inthe bacteroid zone of D. sissoo. A continuous layer of sclereids was observedin D. sissoo. Bacteroid region consisted of infected and uninfected (interstitial)cells intermingled with each other. Cells of bacteroid region were looselyarranged.
