Research studies on growth and yield of tomato in various intercropcombinations was conducted at Horticultural Research Farm, Malakandher,NWFP Agricultural University, Peshawar (Pakistan) during 1999 and 2000.Summer vegetables were evaluated in various combinations for theirgrowth and yield performances under competition: Each plot was 4x4meters with four numbers of rows. Tomato was inter-cropped with okra,potato, corn, chili and eggplant. Plant height of tomato was maximum inokra and corn hint-Branches were less in these inter-crops. Root lengthand weight of tomato were more in corn and okra intercrop combinations.Tomato showed more yield in intercrop. The best companion of tomatowas okra and their combination gave maximum yield of tomato (27.61 tha-1) compared to that of as a sole crop (20.34 t ha-1).
