Influence of age of purebred Arabian mares on their heat and pregnancy length

The studies analysed 3439 heat periods of 397 purebred Arabian mares as well as 1294 pregnancies in 174 mares from 4 Polish state studs. The average age of mares showing different heat and pregnancy lengths was calculated. The studies compared the mean age values from separated groups according to the heat and pregnancy length. It was found that differences between those values were significant, mares with the highest average age had moderate levels of the tested indicators
