Biological reclamation of power plant lignite ash dump sites
Gilewska, M.(Akademia Rolnicza, Poznan (Poland). Katedra Gleboznawstwa i Rekultywacji)
Lignite contains 8-15 percent of ash. It is treated as waste and deposited on dump sites. The large variability of ash properties is caused by its transport to the dump site. The reaction of the analysed ash rock is alkalic (pH 8.3-11.2) and is caused by significant content calcium and sodium. Content of available phosphorus form is low and potassium is average. Amount of nitrogen present in the ashes is caused by the residuals of unburnt lignite. Since 1994 the reclamation of dump sites has been carried out according to the most effective Bender's system
