Development of organic farms in Latvia

The paper provides data on the development of biological farms in Latvia, and characteristics of the factors which enhance and hamper this process. An increase in the number of these farms is prognosticated due to the EU financing. The tasks of agricultural engineering are characterized in this field, as well as several developments at the Ulbroka Research Centre (Latvia)
