The use of constructed wetlands for technological wastewater and stormwater purification

Technological wastewater and stormwater coming from bases of liquid fuels are characterized by considerable content of organics, suspended solids and oils. Location of such objects in protected areas requires reliable and high-effective treatment systems to remain the local environment in invariable state. It can be reached by applying constructed wetland as a last step of wastewater treatment system. Investigations of wastewater quality at the following stages of treatment system located at the Fuels Base in Koluszki (Poland), showed essential role of reed beds in reduction of BOD5, CODCr, suspended solids and total phosphorus
