Effect of organic matter, ammonium phosphate, and Captan of growth and quality of one-year-old apple trees

In the years 1999-01 the role of organic matter, ammonium phosphate, and Captan in alleviating the problem of replant disease was investigated at the nursery of the Garlica Murowana Experimental Station (Poland). After the initial tests which showed positive effects of drying and steaming soil on the height of Antonowka Zwykla seedlings, a field experiment was established. The results showed that peat, humus, and dried cow dung positively affected the diameter of trees in the nursery. The organic fertilization also induced an increase in the number of shoots and their total length. No positive effect of ammonium phosphate was determined neither the application of Captan improved the growth of trees in the nursery
