Contamination of groundwater by arsenic at Tambon Pa Tan Tambon Chang Puek Amphoe Muang and Tambon Don Kaew Amphoe Mae Rim changwat Chiang Mai

Contamination of arsenic in groundwater at Tambon Pa Tan, Tambon Chang Puek, Amphoe Muang, and Tambon Don Kaew, Amphoe Mae Rim, Changwat Chiang Mai has been investigated through sampling and chemical analysis of 15 groundwater samples. The results show that the groundwater in the inhabited area of Rom Yen Road, Tambon Pa Tan contains 0.07-.08 ppm of arsenic which is more than the WHO guideline for maximum allowable (0.05 ppm). How contamination by arsenic arises in this limited area need to be found out because contamination has not been detected in surrounding areas.
