Development of Litsea glutinosa leaf extract for medical preparation and cosmetics Part 1: Pharmacognostic and preliminary chemical constituents study

This study shows pharmacognostic study, thin-layer chromatographic pattern and preliminary test. These data can be useful for the identification of Litsea glutinosa C.B.Robinson leaf. The pharmacognostic study reveals the specific characters of leaf measurement as the stomatal index = 16.4, the stomatal number = 301.0, the palisade ratio = 7.46, the vein-islet number = 11.73 and the veinlet termination number = 2.63. Furthermore, histology and microscopic study were studied. The suitable solvent system for thin-layer chromatogram of 95 percent ethanol extract was chloroform:hexane:methanol (10:1:1). The phytochemical preliminary test find positive with Liebermann-Burchard test, Froth test, Fehling's test, Molisch's test, Dragendorff's reagent and Lead acetate test solution.
