Many people are involved in planning and making decision about land use. Effective land use plans take into consideration various factors, some of which seem unrelated to the problem of land use. An intelligent examination of all possible combinations of these factors without sacrificing details and objectivity would be more than the human mind can do. A modern Geographical Information System (GIS), although capable of manipulating spatial data to facilitate the analysis, lacks the ability to locate an optimal site when compactness and other factors are simultaneously considered. This paper aim to discuss the site selection tool for land use planning process, and to explain tool working and functions. This tool provides a framework for integrating suitability and allocation modeling. It operations were classified to factors weight and rate module, suitability module, and single and multi allocation modules. ArcView Avemue scripting language and dialog designer are used to create visual forms and related functions for the site selection Graphical User Interface components (GUI). A simple GUL was designed to serve user groups with various experiences and GIS knowledge.
