Effect of chemicals spray on off-season flowering in Longan (Dimocarpus longan Lour.) CV. Petsakorn was investigated from June to September 1997 in orchard at Muang District, Lampang, Thailand. The experimental unit comprised of 4 foliar applications; 100 ppm ethephon followed by two sprays 2,500 ppm. Monopotassium phosphate, monopotassium phosphate 2,500 ppm, foliar fertilization of 2,500 ppm 7-13-34 + 12.5 (Zn) and 100 ppm ethephon, three times at 7 days interval. The results showed that ethephon plus Monopotassium phosphate increased percentage of flower emergence at the average of 42.50 percent, and reduced time of flower emergence to 16 days compared with control. Foliar fertilization of 7-13-34 + 12.5 (Zn) had the percentage of flower emergence average of 23.75 percent. Regarding to flowering, application of monopotassium phosphate or ethephon alone was not different from controls. All chemical treatments reduced percentage of leaf flushing, but they had no effect on the number of panicle per shoot, diameter of panicle or panicle length when compared with controls.
