Level of proteins on growth of Trionyx sinensis

This experiment was conducted to test the effect of different levels of protein on the growth of Trionyx sinensis. The experiment was carried out in fiberglass ponds, size 1*1 square m with stocking densities of 15 animals per pond. The diet that was fed to the animal contained different levels of protein; 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and raw fish respectively. The feed was given to the soft-shell turtles twice per day over the duration of 16 weeks. The treatment that received the highest protein content diet (40-45 percent and raw fish) showed the best results with highly significant differences in weight, weight gain, length, survival rate and feed conversion ratio when compared with the other treatments. Those treatment that received food with 25, 30 and 35 percent protein content showed a much lower weight gain and also a much lower survival rate with fewer individuals surviving the duration of the experiment.
