Genetic collection of local orchid in northeast region of Thailand

Collection and genetic study of orchids in the Northeast Region of Thailand has been implemented since late 1997. There were 20 genus 38 spp taken from 9 amphures in Sakon Nakhon, 7 genus 10 spp. from 2 amphures in Nong-kai, 8 genus 12 spp from 1 amphure of Nakorn-panom, 3 genus 3 spp from 1 amphure of Chaiyapoom and 4 genus 4 spp from 1 amphure of Mookdaharn. Five hundred samples of local orchids were planted in Sakon Nakhon Agricultural Research and Training Center and 23 genus with 47 species have been identified.
