Study of hybrid vigor in (Capsicum annuum)

Comparison of forty-four F1 hybrid lines of chili to their parental lines was conducted from June to November 1998 at Department of plant science, Rajamangala Institute of Technology, Nan pcampus. Results revealed that some hybrids showed some superior characteristics to their parents, such as one of them had longer fruit, 4 had wider fruit, 9 had higher number of fruit, 10 had higher flavor scores, 13 had taller plant, 15 had wider canopy; but the others had the same characteristics as their parents. The heriditary percentage in relation to characteristics above were: 2.3, 9.1, 20.4, 22.7, 29.5 and 34.0 respectively.
