Epidemic of various disease in sugarcane field

Diseases on 303 sugarcane varieties planted at U-Thong, Suphanburi were observed monthly for 2 years during April 1990-June 1992. Five of eleven diseases found in the field, ring spot SCMV smut yellow spot and rust disease, showed strong epidemic. One hunderd twenty four, 110, 101, 96 and 44 cane varieties reacted moderately susceptible-susceptible to those diseases, respectively. Epidemic of fungus leaf diseases as ring spot, yellow spot and rust disease occured in wet season and reached their peak on October-December, August-November and October-November, respectively. SCMV and smut disease spread throughout the year but most of susceptible cane varieties showed clear symptom of SCMV, smut in plant cane and an smut in ratoon cane during 3-5, 5-8 and 2-6 month of cane age, respectively.
