Induced fruit ripening of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) by ethephon application

Experiments were carried out to investigate the effect of foliar application of ethephon 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, 2500 and 3000 ppm on quality of pepper (Capsicum annuum). The crops were sprayed at different ripening stags i.e. 0, 10, 20 and 30 percent. Treatments were applied in Factorial in RBD 6*4 experimental design. The results showed that ethephon different concentration at different stage of ripening reflected fruit number, dry weight of fruit, red pigment, seed dry weight and seed germination. We recommend to spray ethephon 500-2000 ppm at the 10-20 percent ripening stage to receive the heighest of quality.
